I have had the opportunity to share my observations of New Zealand's educational system. I have to say that it is one of the most student-oriented systems I have read about or seen. They are so focused on the individual needs of each student and how they can best differentiate instruction for each child. It is an amazing experience to watch the teachers in action as they focus on each and every child in the classroom. While many teachers around the world would think it was hard to plan for EACH child, these teachers do it effortlessly and with such skill that one can only wonder how they have acquired such skills.
It will be interesting to compare the education system in Italy with that of New Zealand and the United States. The following data compare all three countries in the areas of reading and math.
Country Rank Rank
New Zealand 14 23
United States 24 36
Italy 28 32
